We may collect personal data when you:

  • Sign up or log in using your email or phone number

  • Send or accept invitations through the app

  • Provide optional profile details such as name or social handles

b. Usage Information

We collect anonymous usage data to understand how users interact with the app. This includes:

  • Actions you take within the app (e.g., creating a MoTap, generating a QR code)

  • Device and OS type, app version, and performance metrics

  • Crash logs and diagnostics (via Firebase Crashlytics)

c. Media and Content

  • Videos and images you upload, record, or edit remain on your device unless exported.

  • We do not store your personal media on our servers.

  • Frame data is temporarily used in-memory to support app functionality and is never transmitted externally.

2. Permissions Used

MoTap may request access to:

  • Camera & Microphone: To record new videos within the app

  • Photo Library: To import existing videos for editing

  • Notifications: To remind you of unfinished projects or invite status

  • Contacts (Optional): To help you invite friends more easily via email or SMS

You can manage permissions at any time in your device settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Let you create, edit, and export story content

  • Manage your invite activity and enforce invite limits (e.g., 2 invites per week)

  • Enable core features like QR invites and post reviews

  • Improve performance, troubleshoot crashes, and develop new features

  • Provide user support when requested

We do not sell or share your personal data with third-party advertisers.

4. How Your Data Is Stored and Protected

  • Invite and account data are stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud Platform).

  • We use industry-standard encryption and access controls to protect your information.

  • We do not store or upload your video content or frame data to any external server.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You can:

  • View how many invites you have left on your profile screen

  • Manage your personal info or delete your account at any time

  • Revoke app permissions in your device’s Settings

  • Contact us to access or delete your invite data

We will never collect more information than necessary to deliver core functionality.

6. Children’s Privacy

MoTap is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware of such collection, we will delete the data immediately.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective Date” at the top and notify users via the app if the changes are significant.
